Not only is this a fun date but this is also going to be a romantic date that will have the two of you sitting on CLOUD NINE! Most of us are just “plane” crazy about our spouses and this is the perfect date to express just how much!
There’s a lot of little pieces to this date. You can pick a couple of things to do one day and finish another day or jump right in and do it all!!! Whatever you choose to do, you’re going to make your spouse swoon! Before we get started, I have to give a huge shout out to Whimsicle Design Studio for making these adorable printables! If you love them as much as I do, please leave a little thank-you message for Whimsicle Design Studio on her page!
About a week or so before date night, send your spouse a boarding pass invite asking him to fly away with you. In the printables you will find an invite and a map envelope. Fill in the date, time, and location to meet on the boarding pass. To make the envelope, fold along the lines on the map and use a glue stick to glue the corners together. Place the boarding pass in the envelope, seal it up, and hand it over. Prepare for Date Night To prepare for this date you will need to make paper airplanes, pack a picnic, set up a photo booth, join the mile high club, and put together a memorable gift. No worries, this sounds like more work then it actually is. I’ve done most of the work for you, all you need to do is grab the adorable printables, set a few things up, and enjoy a fabulous date!
In the printable pack there is one full map page and one full vintage book page. Use these pages to make your airplanes. Follow the easy DIY tutorial below to make your airplanes.
DIY Paper Plane:
- Print out the vintage page or map page printable. Or you can use a blank 8×10 piece of paper.
- Write a romantic love message on the blank lines.
- Fold paper in half lengthwise. Lay blank side up.
- Fold down upper corners, to meet the middle crease to make a triangle
- Fold the triangle down.
- Fold down the upper corners to make another triangle. Folds will meet at the middle crease.
- Rotate the paper sideways and flip the paper over.
- Fold in the crease to meet square ends together.
- Fold upper flaps down so that the angled edge meets the bottom edge.
- Lift the top flaps just a little bit to create your paper airplane.
- To fly the plane, hold the lower flaps at the bottom of your plane in the center and toss it to begin flight. These planes can be used during your flying date and also as a decorative banner for your photo booth and your bedroom. While searching for ideas for this date I found the cutest paper plane banner that is a perfect addition to this post. Take a peek HERE for instructions on how to make your own. If you aren’t interested in making these planes you can purchase a few really cool planes that your husband is sure to love!

In Flight Refreshments You can’t have a flight without refreshments! Pack a little picnic for the two of you. I didn’t want to eat only the treats you get on the plane, so I made a little meal the two of us would enjoy. I put together chicken breast sandwiches, trail mix, cotton candy, kettle corn, and a fizzy drink. I placed them in a cute suitcase to add to our theme! Label your food and drinks with the “Cloud Nine Refreshment” printables. Use double sided tape to glue the tags to the items. Be sure to take your refreshments out when you leave on your date.
Mile High Club We don’t want the two of you to miss out on this monumental experience!!! Prepare for the mile high experience by decorating your room with the airplane banner and you could even hang clouds from the ceiling to add to the decor. Make sure to grab the airplane note and write a romantic note full of all of your intentions for the night. Place the note in a bag, fill with blue tissue paper. Grab the “Crazy About You Mile High Club” printable and tape it to a dowel, stuff it in the bag, and place it on the dresser for your honey to find once you arrive home from your plane flying adventures.
You are going to want to remember this amazing date and I’m going to help you do just that! “Grab the Come Fly With Me” printable, place it in an 8×10 frame, grab one of your paper airplanes and glue it to the frame with a hot glue gun. Tie the baggage claim printable to a suitcase or tape it to the frame and set this out for the morning after your date to be discovered by your sweetheart! Plane Crazy About You Date Now that you’re all prepared let’s tell you a little about the date! A few ideas are: Go to a park and fly planes. Make a bet before flying, the winner gets a wish!
